About
3 East of England's coastal towns have been exploring a question with their local communities - What role does the shifting coast play in shaping our collective dreams?
Working alongside talented writers and digital artists, local voices have captured the essence of these ever-changing landscapes through heritage walks, creative workshops, and storytelling – uncovering 150 unique stories and images.
From Harwich’s Electric Palace Cinema to Orford Ness’s wild beauty and Great Yarmouth’s evolving shoreline, 52 participants and 8 volunteers have dedicated 100+ hours to storytelling and creative expression.
Their stories will take shape through digital content and silk pennants – part of the Beach of Dreams national commission, The Beach of Dreams Silks – unveiled in free, family-friendly events and walks from 28 – 30 May across the 3 locations. These pennants, symbols of shared history and creativity, will remain in their communities as a lasting legacy.
Funded by Historic England.
