About
On the Water
South Woodham Ferres Yacht Club and Woodham Ferrers Water Ski Club share a HQ and many stories were told about both Club activities. This year is a special one for the Yacht Club marking their 50th anniversary. Whether you are interested in learning a new sport or already experienced, the Club offers free tuition in sailing, rowing, kayaking and paddle-boarding on the River Crouch. With a great range of club-owned gigs, kayaks, dinghies and more, you don’t even need your own boat! The Water Ski Club has a dedicated 150 ski area on the Crouch, with two pontoons, a slalom course and beach area on offer for club members. When the tide is right you can see a wide variety of craft on the river: kayaks, dinghy’s, yachts, Thames barges, paddle boarders, and Club water skiers. The river crossing area is full of kayakers, especially in Summer, and many sail along the river towards Burnham and back up into the Thames estuary. We’ve taken inspiration from photographs shared by Club members to form this pennant. Images from an old map of the crossing and area around it shared by the Local History Society appear on each of our six pennants about this stretch of coastline.
Climate Commitment
Keep sharing with others how to use the river wisely.
